About this deal

The log charts the gradual disappearance of the entire crew during the journey to Whitby, until only the captain is left, tied to the wheel, as the ship runs aground below East Cliff on 8 August – the date that marked Stoker’s discovery of the name ‘Dracula’ in Whitby library. This too is based on real life events; 5 years earlier a Russian boat had run aground on Tate Hill Sands, rearranging the name, Stoker created Demeter from Varna, the novel’s doomed vessel. If you’ve done your Dracula homework, you’ll know the character originates in Transylvania, Romania.

Sheets of 120gsm Letter Writing Paper: Each sheet offers a canvas for your thoughts, stories, or correspondence, providing a luxurious writing surface. Escape the traffic and travel to Whitby Abbey by train, bus or bicycle and be rewarded with 20% off your walk-up ticket. Many of Stoker’s own notes made during the visit were included in the dialogue of Mina Murray, one of the novel’s main characters. Whitby’s windswept headland, the dramatic abbey ruins, a church surrounded by swooping bats, and a long association with jet – a semi-precious stone used in mourning jewellery – gave a homegrown taste of such thrilling horrors. The 199 steps actually used to be made out of wood and it was a sign of faith if you could make it to the top.

With a slightly rearranged name, this became the Demeter from Varna that carries Dracula to Whitby with a cargo of silver sand and boxes of earth. For many years the legend of Dracula has been inextricably linked with Whitby, here this CGI film shows why. Swales who tells them about the folklore of the town and the legends surrounding some of the gravestones.Coffin chocolates, vampire teeth, blood bags of syrup, count Dracula lollies, and black and red Dracula rock are just to name a few. But, you can drive up to Whitby Abbey or get the Whitby Open Bus tour that runs from the Whitby Visitor Centre in town. I have to say I’m very impressed with this book, it’s a great source of reference and also very enjoyable to sit and read. These conversations revealed the story of a recent wreck of the ship, Dmitry, a Russian schooner sailing out of Narva.
